Cheo (aka José Luis Pardo), a Latin Grammy-winning artist, guitarist, DJ, producer, and songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY, is best known as a founding member of the iconic Venezuelan dance/funk band Los Amigos Invisibles, an internationally acclaimed group celebrated for blending disco, funk, and Latin rhythms.
In “Refresco”, Cheo revisits some of his favorite compositions from the band’s catalog, reimagining them through fresh arrangements and contemporary production. The result is a dynamic body of work that bridges his past and present musical identity.
The concept for “Refresco” emerged while preparing new material for his live shows. After introducing a few Los Amigos Invisibles classics into his setlist and seeing the strong audience response, he expanded the idea into a full recording project. Working with his current band, he reinterpreted these songs and developed them into a cohesive series.
The project was released as four EPs via Nacional Records: “Cheo Goes Brazil”, “Cheo Goes Latin”, “Cheo Goes Funk” and “Cheo Goes Dancing”. Each installment highlights a different stylistic direction while honoring the spirit of his original work.
Recorded at live at his Cutupra’ Studio, the collection captures Pardo’s evolution as an artist; revisiting his legacy while pushing it forward with a modern, live sound.
